The 5 things I’ve learned in 2018



In 2018, I’ve moved to Utah for work, I was send there to implement what I was doing in the UK. I’ve always loved the USA, the people, the culture and the nature. Living there is just super AMAZING to me!

So here I was, January 2018 in a new flat, new colleagues, new car, new gym, new routine. EVERYTHING THAT I LOVE !

It’s been a rollercoaster emotionally for sure, I’m not going to lie, it’s been tough for days and amazing others.

I’ve realised a few things that really change the way I see things now.

So here we go with the learnings! 😉


Sitting on your ass won’t get you anywhere

How many times did I find excuses to avoid getting out of my comfort zone… I’m literally a PRO for that.

Do I feel in better shape when I say no for going out with some new friends ? YEP I do ! Does this make me happy ? Well not that much !

I’ve been stuck too long in this small circle of comfort and of course it’s nice, warm and cosy, but it’s not bringing anything extra to my life.

Sometimes I realise how much bullshit I can create in my head in order to make up my mind. GOSH ! Ridiculous !

And most of the time, it does come down to, « I don’t want to miss my workout in the morning ». OH DEAR – Yes I love fitness SO MUCH, but I’ve realised how important spending time with friends, or learning new things and meeting new people is.

So right now, I’m in a bar in Paris writing this by myself which I rarely do, and later I’m going to meet some very cool new friends I just met. and this is just down to my new mindset.

I DO want an exciting life, and this isn’t going to happen with my ass on my couch ! So let’s get out of that comfort zone and live to the fullest!


Healthy lifestyle is great, but binge a little !

Okay okay, so I’ve started fitness a while ago now, and I had a very strict 6 months where I wasn’t allowing myself any treats or delicious stuff ! Rarely when I did have a bit of chocolate it would feel guilty and it was almost making me sick.

It did pass after a while and I started enjoying treats and sweets again ! BACK TO LIVING A LITTLE !

At the end of 2018, I would still do my meal prep for the week but at night or during the weekend, I would just let my inner little hungry girl take control! 😉

I would just ate EVERYTHING I freaking wanted! and it made me SO HAPPY!

0% guilt just 100% pleasure !

It’s so important, because at the end of the day, it’s how you feel that count ! You Do You!

Picture the person you want to be and just become it

Let’s be honest, there is always a moment when you see someone in the street and you think ” Damn she is looking good… what a graceful stylish women!”

Why is this something that comes to mind like we can’t reach it?

We can all become that person… Adapt your way of walking, smiling, talking. Become what you want, because you are in control.

I’ve been working on the way I walk because I usually walk very manly and I don’t like it. My dad would make a comment or whatever and It would be in my mind for a while. I don’t know why, I just walk fast and kinda heavily. But when you start noticing it’s the beginning of the change!

Work on your confidence and it will change your life! 


People change, and it’s okay…

Because we change too!

We can’t expect people to stay the same forever and vice versa. We have to accept this.

Being away that long really help seing close friends changing. It can be their mindset, their opinions or just their way of living. Sometimes it turns out great and it bring us closer to the person and sometimes it just tears you appart.

You can try to ignore the change for a while but at some point you just realise that there is nothing you can do.

So yes, I saw a few of my friends changing in good and bad ways. On the other hand, I would say that I’m quite different too. I’m more peaceful, open to things, I guess I just want to make the most of it.

Change can be good and it can be bad, but it all happen for a reason.


Switch your mind to Positivity & life will be better

A lot of people argue with influencer on social media always being positive, smiling etc. They say that it’s not real life, and that everyone feels down sometimes. DUHHHHHHHHH

We all have moment when we just want to hide, camp in our bed for hours and not see the sunlights. However positive thinking has a real power on ourselves but also influence on people around.

This is why, when someone smile at you, you will most likely return the smile.

I used to let my negative emotions take control and it could literally ruin my entire day. I will let my anger or sadness eat me up.

Nowadays I’ve learnt to control this with multiple things like breathing exercises, positive thinking, happiness ancre… I will write an entire article on this because I really do believe in the power of it!

A little extra one?  Stop giving to people that doesn’t deserve you… Love doesn’t just go one way…

And 2019?

So yes, 2018 was a year full of learnings, mostly about myself. I’m starting 2019 with new challenges and it feels good. I’m freaking excited about what the futur brings!

Unlike my mathematics lessons that I forgot 2 hours after each class 😉 , I need to constantly remind myself about those life learnings and keep pushing for more. Because it makes me a better person.

    Très bonne analyse. Les choses paraissent simples, mais Pas toujours facile à appliquer…suivant le contexte dans lequel on vit. Mais ce qui est sure, c’est qu’effectivement on peut toujours améliorer son état d’esprit pour aider à mieux vivre certaines situations, voir en changer.
