Girls & Fitness : Why you should start your journey now?

More and more girls start to train in the free weight area and start their Fitness Journey, and this is GREAT!

Unfortunately though, a lot of you have some preconception of this sport. And a lot of questions or fears comes to your mind like:

  • Starting to lift weight will make me too muscular
  • Men look and stare at me when I get into the free weight space, like i am an alien.
  • I don’t know how to use the machine and i’m scared of being ridiculous.
  • Can I take supplement even if I am a girl?
  • What supplement should I take for my objectives?
  • Is cardio enough to lose weight?

No worries girls, there are answers to all your questions! Personally, since I’ve started to practice musculation, my body have changed so much and I feel amazing in my everyday life!

So girls, don’t be afraid, as I would say in French “prenez votre courage à deux mains”, be courageous and start working out in the free weight area without complex!

FYI, this article will not answer all the questions above, this is an introduction for futur articles 🙂

You will not become “She Hulk” by doing musculation!

First of all you will not transform into a super mega muscular person a week after you started working out. Girls are not made like boys, we have a different metabolism that doesn’t allow our muscle to grow like them (Cf Testosterone rate inferior). And opposite of what you are thinking right now, but working out / doing musculation can be a very good ally with cardio, if you want to lose weight and tone up.

So start creating your musculation program that you will follow at the gym and don’t be afraid of guys… because they will be the ones helping you when you need help and have questions.

respect yourself

Established the respect !

Men don’t look at you at the gym because you are a woman, they probably look at you because you are new to their gym! So please don’t care, just smile at them or something and then in few days you will be fine, they will understand that you are serious with your training and that you have true objectives in mind. When I was in France, I’ve made a really good group of friend at the gym, which was very very motivated sometimes when you feel a bit down.

Get inform and learn !

At the gym , some machines are a bit hard to use, thats why I don’t really use the machine, I really like to train with free weight. But don”t worry If your program include some exercices with machines, you have many ways to understand how to use them.

–       Ask the cute PT of your gym 😉

–       Use Google and Youtube!!! Best source of information!

–       If you have some fitness celebrities that you follow you can always find videos of them practicing exercices on their social media!  This might give you some ideas.

If I can give you an advice, try all the machine that you can in order to find the ones that really fits you and doesn’t hurt you. For example I never use some of the machine for the back because I know they aren’t good for my muscle and tendons.

What about the supplements for fitness?

The supplements… I will talk about it later in another article:) My goal here is to persuade you that supplements can be good for you and your health!  Of course if you only start doing sport, I would advice you to start with a good nutrition plan and then later add some supplements to your diet. This might help you achieve your objectives a bit faster 🙂

Do Cardio, but not only !

Aie aie aie Cardio, I hate cardio! Sincerely hate it sooooo much! I basically never do cardio unless, i am trying to cut (burn fat period ;).  During this period, I usually do it 2 to 3 times per week (20 min). For me it’s enough because before that, I start my session with 1h -1h30 of weight lifting.

So I would advice you to have a good combinaison of Cardio and Musculation in your training in order to get fit and to get the shapes you want!

Fitness should not be a pressure but a pleasure!

Be Proud of yourself

shape of the day

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that all the fitness programmes vary from person to person because of our different bodies and objectives.

I will soon start to share with you some Training plan and Nutrition plan that you will be able to copy and adapt to yourself and your way of living.

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any articles ideas or any questions to ask!

Enjoy and Smile

Camille

I do Bodypump and really enjoy it without the worry of getting bulky. I use it more as cross training exercise and I agree, I think more girl should try weights!
